A TIME TO DIE

I wonder if I have decided
it is time for me to die.
Oh - I don't mean literally,
not yet, anyway. The Hindus say
accumulate, enjoy, renounce, but we
tend to go on accumulating
indefinitely.
We never renounce. We never even
enjoy. Perhaps I have decided
it is time to enjoy.
But that means stopping, and that,
to a Western mind at least,
looks like death. Our idea of life
is, almost by definition,
dissatisfaction.
But maybe
we are meant to be that way.
The Hindu Trinity -
Creation, Preservation, Destruction - covers
everything. IS everything.
Our Trinity is holy,
which is to say.
out of this world.
